What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) is a holistic relaxation and stress reduction technique that supports healing. Originating in Japan, the word Reiki combines "Rei" (meaning "Universal Life") and "Ki" (meaning "Energy"). This life force energy flows through all living beings, and when in balance, it fosters wellness and harmony.
Across different cultures, this energy is known by other names: in Chinese medicine, it’s Chi, and in the Hindu tradition, it’s referred to as Prana. In essence, Reiki is the life force energy that connects us all.
Reiki practitioners channel this energy through their hands, allowing it to flow to areas that need balance, healing, or support. Whether through gentle touch or hands hovering just above the body, this energy can help promote relaxation, balance chakras, and facilitate healing at a deep level.
What makes Reiki especially unique is that it transcends space and time—meaning that Reiki can be just as powerful when practiced from a distance as it is during an in-person session.
What is Holy Fire® III Reiki?
Holy Fire® Reiki, introduced by the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) in 2014, represents a newer, refined form of Reiki. Over time, the energy has evolved—first into Holy Fire® II in 2015, and now into Holy Fire® III since 2018. This powerful, yet gentle energy is known for its ability to purify, heal, empower, and guide.
Holy Fire® III Reiki is a combination of traditional Usui Reiki and this evolved energy that comes from higher levels of consciousness. In our classes, we teach the four symbols from the Usui tradition, alongside the Holy Fire® III symbol, which has also been integrated into our Karuna Reiki® training.
For me, Holy Fire® Reiki has been the bedrock of my spiritual journey. When I first experienced Reiki, it was purely by chance. I went to my first session seeking relief from chronic back pain, and it just so happened that my practitioner, Tori, worked with Holy Fire®. During the session, I felt powerful waves of energy and intense heat, and I was pain-free for two weeks afterward. That moment marked the beginning of my Reiki journey, and two months later, I was enrolled in Tori’s class, ready to learn more.

What is World Peace Reiki?
In 2022, a new evolution of Reiki emerged, known as World Peace Reiki. This energy is a natural extension and refinement of Holy Fire® Reiki, arriving at a time when the world is going through significant transitions. The pandemic and the challenges humanity faces today make this new energy more relevant than ever.
World Peace Reiki promotes inner stability, helping individuals maintain peace regardless of external circumstances. It also assists in unifying human consciousness with divine consciousness and connects us more deeply to the spirit of the Earth. This energy serves as a powerful tool for navigating life's challenges and living with greater purpose and clarity.
For me, World Peace Reiki fits seamlessly into my practice, as it is designed to help facilitate humanity’s collective evolution toward a more peaceful and unified existence. As we move through this transitional era, World Peace Reiki supports us in releasing old patterns and stepping into a future where violence and war are things of the past.
How Reiki Can Transform Your Life
First and foremost, Reiki helps you relax. With relaxation comes calm and peace, allowing your energy centers to open up and flow freely. This is why Reiki is often compared to acupuncture but without needles. This state of peace and relaxation puts us in a receptive place where spirit can connect with us more easily. Spirit is always there, but we have to be open to receiving.
Reiki aligns with your free will, honoring the pace at which you are willing to receive. The sensations—whether heat, tingling, or seeing colors—are a fun perk, but Reiki works even if you don’t feel anything at first. When I began my journey, I didn’t feel much in my hands, but as I practiced and set the intention to open, I gradually became more sensitive.
Reiki is a divinely guided, powerful tool that works within the flow of pure love, energy, and life force. It’s always there to help, but we must be open and receptive to its gifts.
Holy Fire® III and Religious Context
Many people wonder if the term "holy" in Holy Fire® Reiki implies a religious connection. However, it’s important to clarify that Holy Fire® is a spiritual energy, not associated with any religion.
The word "holy" in Holy Fire® Reiki refers to its original meaning from the Proto-Indo-European root, which means whole, uninjured, or complete. This signifies the energy's purpose: to create wholeness through purification, healing, empowerment, and guidance. While "holy" often carries religious connotations, in this context, it emphasizes spiritual transformation and unity, free from religious doctrine.
This makes Holy Fire® Reiki a universal energy that anyone can benefit from, regardless of their spiritual or religious beliefs. It supports healing on all levels—physical, emotional, and spiritual—without being tied to any particular faith or religious tradition.
Attunements, Placements, and Ignitions
Traditionally, Reiki energy is passed from teacher to student through a process called attunement, where the student’s energy channels are opened to receive Reiki.
In Holy Fire® III Reiki, this process has evolved to include Placements and Ignitions.

Placements are the method now used in Reiki I and II levels. Instead of a hands-on attunement, the energy is placed directly into the student by the Holy Fire® itself, offering a more direct and powerful experience.

Ignitions are used at the Master level and beyond. These powerful experiences, guided by Holy Fire® energy, go deeper, igniting the flame of Holy Fire® within the student, further expanding their ability to channel the energy.
I experienced this personally when I attended my first Holy Fire® class, where we had the option of both an attunement and a placement. At first, I felt I wasn’t as open to the energy as others, but with practice and perseverance, my connection deepened, and now I feel the heat and flow of the energy much more powerfully.
Lineage of Holy Fire® III
Unlike traditional Reiki, which traces lineage back to a physical person (such as Usui Sensei, the founder of Usui Reiki), Holy Fire® III Reiki has no lineage in the same way. The energy itself comes from a higher spiritual consciousness, beyond the earthly plane. In Holy Fire® III, the lineage remains connected to Usui Sensei for the Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki Ryoho system, and William Lee Rand for Karuna® Reiki. However, Holy Fire® III is not associated with any single person as the originator, making it a universal energy that transcends the concept of lineage.
